The early achievements of Maureen FitzSimons in the arts of performing, and which we now know as Maureen O'Hara, would certainly have qualified her to be in the "child prodigy" category. This was a natural trait to a person born in Ireland. by gifted parents and a loving family. Maureen was born in Ranelagh - a suburb of Dublin in Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Her mother, Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a part of the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons The rest of the family rounded out the wonderful family. Maureen did well in sports and enjoyed playing rough sports. This interest was combined with a natural talent for performance. She won almost all Feis Award for Drama and Theatre Performance the country could offer. When she turned 14, she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and permitted her to pursue her dream in classical theater and singing opera.
